Structuring your mind-body practice…

Most of you are familiar with yoga instructors are asking you to set up an intention for your practice for that session. And I know from my students that most of you take that as a routine process without putting much thought or your heart in it. Setting up an intention for your practice is a significant part of the process since during your practice you are meeting with your body-mind and your higher-self. Not having an intention is like going to a doctor or a lawyer and not explaining why you are there. In order for you to get a proper response, you need to explain the reason for your visit, even if it is just to spend quality time with your body-mind, or your soul so that you can hear the guidance coming back clearly. Otherwise you will get all bunch of information – of course you need to be quiet and listening to hear this- and will not know how to interpret it. Setting up intention creates focus and scope for the meeting.

Secondly, it is important to create a safety net around you. During any mind-body practice, our energies become very welcoming and open. Therefore it is easier for us to hear, sense or observe what is around us. This includes anything positive and negative. As I spoke above regarding to setting up an intention so you can create a focused meeting, creating safety net will allow you to hear or pick up only the messages and energies you chose to hear or observe and keep negativity or false information away. Therefore it is very important to set your boundaries clearly prior to such sessions. I will provide an example prayer that I use prior to setting up my intention. This prayer is nondenominational. If working with the Angels are not your cup of tea, you could visualize them as focused energies. Or chose something else that resonate with you, this is just an example.

Sit on easy pose (crossed legged) or hero pose (sitting on your heals) start calling upon your angels, guides, higher selves and whatever divine source is for you. Then start feeling the shifting of the energy around you. After this point you could choose the below prayer or your own:

Archangel Michael is on my right, God’s love and kindness. (Repeat is two times as you feel the energy on your right side)

Archangel Gabriel is on my left God’s strength and justice. (Repeat is two times as you feel the energy on your left side)

Archangel Raphael is in the back God’s healing and prosperity. (Repeat is two times as you feel the energy in your back, brushing against the spine)

Archangel Uriel is in the front, God’s wisdom and light. (Repeat is two times as you feel the energy in the front, especially on your 3rd eye point between your eyes)

Shakina (the divine presence) is protecting and shielding us (Repeat is two times as you feel the divine energy becoming an umbrella and covering you, surrounded by the Archangels each side)

State the whole prayer twice or as many times as you wish until you feel the connectedness to your source. Then proceed to intention setting process.

Once you finish your session, whether it is a yoga practice, meditation, whatever it is, then take another moment to close the session properly. Send your gratitude to divine source, your guides and angels, your higher-self, your body-mind for all the guidance and information you have received. Then continue with sending your prayers to yourself, your loved ones, and then I often include all-life. I send my prayers to air, water, soil, the animal kingdom, the mineral kingdom, the waters, plants, trees, vegetables and fruits. All beings. This time is also very appropriate to respond to prayer requests if you have received any from your friends or loved ones.

After this, if you chose to, you could then set an intention for the day if you are practicing in the morning or for the dream time if you are practicing in the evening. This part becomes very powerful to focus your free will as you move through your life lessons. Especially if you tie the initial intention of the practice to what you realize during the practice and your intentions for the day or the dream time.

I decided to speak about this today since I am often asked how to structure a practice…

May your practice to connect to you and your divine source be always and all ways be blessed, fruitful, graceful and peaceful.

Feeling the gratitude

We are staying at a friend’s beautiful and stunning house in Spain. They recently purchased it and they graciously offered us to stay while they were not here and while house is not rented…I am a very giving person. In fact, my giving has been quite unbalanced for years…That is what I learned from both of my parents, constantly give and feel uneasy about receiving anything…Although I have been healing myself on this for a long time now, and coached others on self-worth and self-value; came to realize that I have not written about it…As I am sitting in the pool of gratitude waters, I wanted to share this with all of you today…

At this very moment, check in to see how OK are you in receiving. What feelings are arising when someone gives you something? I know that most Eastern cultures, it is thought to plan how you can replicate, even before you enjoy the moment in receiving it…I have also seen this in some Western cultures…So I am writing to create awareness in your receiving process…What happens when you receive something, little, or big, do you take a moment to enjoy the energy of receiving, stay still, connect to the giver with the energy of their desire to give; or do you feel uneasy, think what you need to do, say or whatever to escape the moment of receiving…

This is a major training of the heart and the soul…We are designed to give and receive. If you have a tendency to give and not receive easily, you will also find yourself often frustrated, feeling used, not cared for, etc. sounds familiar? It is you that needs to breakthrough that uneven energy flow. Sometimes, it is OK to receive and not plan on how to replicate…Time will come…I admit here, that I still have not mastered this myself. But I am sharing as I continue to learn…

One magnificent way to feel the ease and to learn to receive is gratitude…This is what I am sharing with you today…Inability to receive with ease often stems from the challenges around self-worth… If you have tendencies to feel anxious, feel rush, and wanting to escape the moment in receiving, -and yes, the those of you who always find something to criticize in the gift given to you, are included in this, as it is the very same thing, “I can never get what I want, because I am not worthy or good enough to get what I want” is the movie behind the scenes-, take a stop sign as these feelings arise…Look at the being who wants to acknowledge your value…Look at them in the eye, see the love. See if you are capable of taking that much love about you into your loving heart…See if you can trust that you are good enough, worthy enough to receive that love…And connect to the feeling of gratitude for the person who loves you that much to acknowledge your be-ing in their life…What a gift that is…Use the energy of gratitude as the ladder towards acknowledging you and healing your “receiving”…After all, we are here to learn to “love” and “to love” is a choice you can make in any time…

As I walk around this beautiful house, lush garden, listening to the birds, I am sending my gratitude to our friends who are loving us this much to give us their precious place to stay…Every corner in the house, and the gardens I blessed with my prayers for them…This is what I am replicating their love with; my gratitude…And knowing in my heart, that no-thing else is needed at this very moment, other than my prayers of gratitude…

Here is my prayer for you this very loving moment…May you find gratitude towards you to allow yourself to inhale the love that is being offered to you…May you find gratitude in every giving to acknowledge the love’s presence…Yes, it is in giving we receive, but it is also receiving that we give….

Channeling grace

Last couple of years, I have been asked to pray for others for various reasons…I know enough to take these requests seriously. When you say that I will keep so and so on my prayers, it is a commitment and needs to be followed. Caroline Myss talks about in her book Channeling Grace that when you are in the moment of conscious prayer you are a channel for grace to come to you and through you…To me, when you are saying to someone who I will be that channel for you or for your loved one, it is a serious promise that needs to be fulfilled. Although, I do my prayers daily, there are occasions that I feel so exhausted, tired, emotionally drained that I would not be able to be the same channel for grace as I normally am. On those moments I ask my friends to channel for me and my loved ones.

As I walk deeper in my spiritual journey, I got away from ritualistic, repetitive, already scripted prayers however. I studied Distant Healing Methods of Jack Angelo years ago. I enjoyed his teachings. I use similar practice as I pray. I quiet myself and connect with the individual at the soul level to understand the need. Then I ask to be the channel for that need to send that over. Not necessarily what I think they need or am asked to send prayers for. Because I believe on those cases you are serving the ego, either yours or the other person’s. I rather serve the higher purposes and needs. So I try to as disconnected as possible from my ego as I connect to the individual’s higher self, asking what is needed at those moments…Like I do the same when I coach others. It isn’t my agenda, it is theirs, and I am just a channel for them to hear their truth…

So today, I was inspired to speak about the importance of commitment to pray for others as well as the way it has been done. Of course as I anything I am sharing, see how this resonate with you. If it feels true, and suits you, then use it, if not continue on what works for you…Just know though, on those moments of prayer, you are channeling grace so more you do it, more grace come to you and through you…

I am finishing up with the prayer from one of my favorite spiritual teachers, Teresa of Avila…

“May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing that you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle into our bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.
It is there for each and everyone of you.”
